Sharing Joy Through Origami: Service With Love Event

Starspur demonstrated its commitment to serving the community with the Service With Love event, held on March 11, 2010, at Tembusu Home. With a team of 6 volunteers and 12 to 15 participants, the goal was to engage seniors in fun and simple activities, fostering joy and preventing social isolation.

The event featured Origami classes led by skilled volunteers, offering seniors the opportunity to create beautiful decorative items through the art of paper folding. Participants immersed themselves in the creative process, learning new skills while enjoying the company of volunteers.

The outcome was heartwarming. Seniors not only enjoyed the activity but also expressed interest in pursuing Origami as a hobby. Beyond creating art, participants benefited from improved hand-eye coordination, mental concentration, and reduced stress.

Service With Love exemplifies the importance of honoring and cherishing our seniors, providing them with opportunities for mutual learning, shared hobbies, and meaningful social interaction. Together, volunteers and seniors created lasting memories, fostering a sense of joy and connection within the community.
