Starspur proudly hosted the “Bridge the Digital Divide” event on November 19th, 2022, from 11 am to 4 pm, right in the comfort of our members’ homes. With 4 dedicated volunteers and 6 eager participants, this event aimed to empower seniors by bridging the gap between generations and technology.

The intimate setting allowed for personalised attention, with each senior paired with a tech-savvy volunteer, creating intergenerational “tech buddies” who shared knowledge and experiences. Through patient guidance, seniors learned to navigate essential apps like Grab, Tada, Lazada, and email accounts, all from their mobile devices.

But it wasn’t just about learning apps; safety was a priority. Participants received valuable tips on how to stay safe online, protecting themselves from scams and pitfalls.

By the end of the workshop, participants left with newfound confidence in their tech skills, equipped to handle their day-to-day needs with ease. Beyond the practical skills gained, connections were made, and memories shared, fostering a sense of community and empowerment for all involved.

Starspur’s commitment to bridging the digital divide continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors, ensuring they remain connected and empowered in our digital world.
